Overview

Three small owls in California acquire superpowers by sipping radioactive liquid. Their main power is the ability to get into the heads of other creatures, learn from them, and influence them. They start small, educating dogs in their local park. Then they get into people and what they see disturbs them. They decide to go to DC to inform the Emperor so that he can make things better. This gets them into various scrapes, conspiracies, and adventures involving members of the Emperor's inner circle. Defeated and returned home into private life, they learn of an opportunity to import a virus that could wipe out huge numbers of the Emperor's unprotected subjects. They call a bird council to decide the issue, but it remains unresolved.. Eventually they return to DC accompanied by hundreds of thousands of other birds from across the country, and they thoroughly spoil the opening ceremony of the Emperor's new golden ballroom. This novel is a hybrid of nature fantasy, science fiction, and political satire. It should probably be rated R for language, sexual situations, and violence, all by humans.
