The book has a good homogeneity of style, clear and uncluttered figures, and quite extensive and up-to-date references. The chapters are concise and do an excellent job of presenting the jargon of various scientific domains concisely, so that the reader can understand the key underlying concepts as well as the challenges. Many of the chapters provide good methodological hints where experiments are difficult, and others tabulate key data in accessible form. All have kept equations readable and with clear, defined, and summarized nomenclature.
