OverviewThis study made it possible to: - Identify the most abundant families in the catches, notably the Cichlidae with 6 species (17.14%), followed by the Clariidae and Mormyridae families with 4 species (11.43%), and then the Clarotoidae and Cyprinidae families with 3 species (8.57%); The families Distichodontidae, Notopteridae, Schilbeidae, Malapteruridae, and Citharinidae are each represented by 2 species (5.71%). - The remaining families are the least abundant, each represented by a single species, accounting for 2.86% of the total number of fish species inventoried; these are the families Hepsetidae, Anabantidae, Arapaimidae, Mochokidae, and Channidae. Regarding physical and chemical parameters: It is observed that the water of the Congo River in this studied section is relatively close to neutrality, i.e., (6.88-7.07), a value within the pH range of 6 to 9. The temperature results presented in our study show that the average temperature observed in this section of the Congo River is 26.5°C. The oxygen level is 7.4 mg/L.
