It gives some very simple actions that will help the person being bullied to deal with the problem in a proactive way rather than a reactive way. Alongside the wonderful story there are lots of fabulous illustrations that give that little bit extra to the book and will help engage the younger readers even more. Patricia Walker This book is an elegant, well-written examination of the subject of bullying among children. I gave it to my daughter to read and she really enjoyed this simple, straightforward story that seeks to entertain and advise children about something that everyone experiences at one point in their life. Ian Probert, Billy's Tenth Birthday is a wonderful example of a story that young children can enjoy reading together with their parents. The book carries Minter's trademark wit, and is well written and accessible, but it also deals with a serious issue that will affect many children as they grow up. Bullying can be a difficult subject for children to talk about, many may feel frightened or embarrassed if they fall victim to bullying. Minter's book acts as the perfect icebreaker for adults and children to begin discussing these issues. Jude Fawley This excellent little book will be of great help to parents when reading to their children. A story like this is the best way of getting useful thought into a child's head, and dealing with bullying is so important. Anthony Sims Author InformationAuthor Website: http://www.ibexillustrations.co.uk/I am a dad of two grown children, and a stepfather to three more. I started writing five years ago with books designed to appeal to the inner child in adults - very English humour. My daughter Louise, reminded me of the bedtime stories I told her, and suggested I write them down for others to enjoy. I haven't yet, but instead I have written this eight-book series for 8 to 11-year-old boys and girls. Each one is a traditional story dealing with negative behaviours, but with positive outcomes. Although the main characters, Billy and his friends, are made up, Billy's dog, Jacko, is based on our much-loved family pet, which, with our second dog Malibu, caused havoc and mayhem to the delight of my children and consternation of me. Prior to writing, I was a college lecturer, and later worked in the computer industry, at a time before smartphones and tablets, when computers were powered by steam, and stood as high as a bus.
