Overview

I wrote Billy Beaver's Magic Tail as a 7-year-old. The book was written with my own real-world experiences of being bullied growing up. Words were hurtful, intentional, and repetitive and for a while, it made me feel the people tormenting me were more powerful than I was. Yet, these experiences taught me how different God makes everyone and how and why they matter in this world. Children reading this book can relate to what Billy Beaver went through and gain confidence in dealing with people that intimidate them. I was certainly not the biggest kid on the block growing up, but I was one of the tallest for my age. There were several cases growing up where I was harassed and intimidated, mostly in sports-golf, football, basketball, and cross country. A few of the sports (outside of golf) I knew I did not have the talent for, although I did enjoy playing those sports and wanted to be active. Eventually, I met a friend who asked me to caddy for him in a junior golf tournament. I enjoyed it and then started playing and developed quite a talent for the game. This is where I landed as a youngster. Later on, this pattern of bullying and the bullies saying mean and abusive things continued on the golf course. I was determined to show them what I could do. I was not going to let the bullies stand in my way. I wanted to take my power back. These bullies eventually came around and we became friends. I thank God for giving me the strength to keep the focus and move forward no matter what. Do not let anyone stand in the way of your dreams and aspirations.
