Biking Englewood: An Essay on the White Gaze

Overview

In the city of Laquan McDonald and in the season when some white Americans are beginning to learn that black lives matter, it would be absurd to set myself up as an apologist for the white gaze. Reviews

In Biking Englewood, Benjamin Goluboff takes on the difficult and necessary task of interrogating the white gaze without affirming whiteness as an ethnic and racial identity. This essay should be read by anyone seriously interested in racial disparities American-style, particularly in the age of Trump. -Shaun Rouser, Co-editor, The Blackstone Review
