OverviewThe Corpus des Antiquites pheniciennes et puniques, created in 1987 at the initiative of Sabatino Moscati, the eminent Italian specialist in Phoenician and Punic Studies, was approved in 1990 as one of the projects of the union academique internationale. Since that time, several publications in the series have appeared in Italy and Spain. France, with its long-lived and still dynamic tradition of research in ancient Oriental and Semitic civilizations, must obviously also participate. With the support of the French Academie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres in this endeavor, Brigitte Quillard, well known specialist in the study of Carthaginian jewelry, here presents the first of the French contributions to what we hope will become a long and important scholarly series.
