Overview

A personal account of our second retirement Big Trip. By plane to Bangkok in Thailand and to Laos in Cambodia; by boat on the Mekong River through Cambodia; by plane to Vietnam and China; by train to Ulaanbaatar, and into Russia stopping at Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Moscow, St Petersburg, and Helsinki in Finland; by car around the Gulf of Bothnia through Finland, Sweden, Norway and back to Finland; by plane to UK and onwards back to home in Australia. As with our first Big Trip most of our planning worked well, and we managed to overcome problems where it didn't.
