The author provides a good introduction and rationale for using picture books with older students. For each topic there are several books featured. With the featured books, there are several activities and a summary. These activities are fairly simple to accomplish within a class period and don't require much in the way of extra materials. The author then lists more books with summaries (but no activities) that link well with the same subject. The author also provides readers with an index of authors and illustrators, an index of titles, and a short bibliography.
