OverviewHow do libraries and archives help preserve the history and heritage of official language minority communities (OLMCs)? Alain Roy, Lucie Hotte, Hélène Carrier, Linda Savoie and their collaborators answer this question by exploring the fundamental role these institutions play in the cultural vitality and memory of OLMCs. Structured in two sections—providing both a national and international perspective—this book offers an in-depth look at the resources of libraries and archives and the language policies that shape them. The authors also highlight just how significant the community archives are, in sustaining the dynamism and identity of minority language communities. With its innovative approach, Bibliothèques et archives dans les communautés de langue officielle en situation minoritaire is aimed at everyone interested in the role cultural institutions play in maintaining the heritage and the development of these communities. This book is published in French.
