OverviewIn Bias against Judaism , Islamic studies professor Dr. Tomer Mohamad Metwally confronts attitudes regarding Judaism in the Muslim world that he declares to be unfairly biased. He states, although Arab culture has recognized the phenomenon of prejudice, suffered from it, and confronted it, we were not innocent of committing it against others. Herein he seeks to reckon with and rectify this phenomenon, which he states ultimately hurts the Islamic world. Metwally's book is unique in modern literature on this topic not just because of his subject matter, there are other works by Muslim authors on this topic, but because of the way he addresses it: he argues against bias as a deeply religious scholar, for deeply religious reasons. By introducing the reader to a range of sources encompassing the breadth of Islamic exegesis and jurisprudence, he brings to light a complete intellectual framework that, he declares, rejects prejudice towards the People of the Book. His work is unique in interfaith literature, as the majority of such literature works on the assumption that religion stands in the way of conciliation; in contrast, Metwally sees religion as the solution. It is indeed an honor to bring his work to the English speaking public. Due to reasons of space and audience, the longer and more technical footnotes are not included in the Kindle version of the text, only the printed edition.
