Overview

BFUN is a new bridge bidding system designed to reduce the guesswork caused by flaws in standard bidding systems. The focus is on conveying immediately whether opener's hand is balanced or unbalanced. Much of the complexity of most standard systems is made necessary by failure to make this distinction. BFUN allows players to drop a multitude of conventions which exist only because of this fundamental flaw. BFUN introduces several new and revised conventions to take advantage of what the author argues is a more stable foundation for bidding.

Author Information

Kevin Cadmus began teaching bridge lessons in 1968. He wrote his first bridge-playing computer software in 1974, 25 years prior to his earning a Masters Degree in Computer and Information Science from The Ohio State University. He delights in developing new bridge theories, conventions, and complete bidding systems. His contrarian nature loves to challenge prevailing bridge orthodoxy. He has run countless computerized bridge simulations to test and support (or refute!) his ideas.
