Overview

In March 1808, as Napoleon holds Portugal and threatens his old ally Spain, Vice-Admiral Sir Richard Bolitho is dispatched once more to the Cape of Good Hope to establish a permanent naval force there. Alexander Kent is writer Douglas Edward Reeman's pseudonym. Reeman was born at Thames Ditton 15 October 1924 (age 90), is a British author who has written many historical fiction books on the Royal Navy, mainly set during either World War II or the Napoleonic Wars. Kent was the name of Alexander's friend and naval officer who died during the Second World War. Michael Jayston is an English actor born in 1935. He has appeared in film and on television in many Shakespearian roles, as well as in Doctor Who, EastEnders and the televised serial Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He is the narrator for all of John le Carre's audiobook novels and was awarded an Earphones Award for his talent recording The Constant Gardener by le Carre.
