She also provides professional development and classroom coaching to teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before receiving a PhD in mathematics education from the University of California, Berkeley, she was a classroom teacher in local public schools. Meghan M. Shaughnessy is an elementary teacher educator and researcher at the University of Michigan School of Education. She designs and enacts practice-based teacher education courses focused on elementary mathematics. Her research focuses on the study and improvement of elementary mathematics instruction.
