Beyond Love: Will Mankind be Tough Enough to Survive the 21st Century

Overview

Charles Wise believes we are in the final stages of a world war. In this war, everyone dies because all of the breathable air and potable water have been destroyed. After 40 years of silence, this elder statesman speaks out about the most disturbing problem of our time - overpopulation. Mankind's growth is accelerating. An increase the equivalent of another Mexico is added every year (90 million). This alarming trend seems to be ignored by most world leaders and politicians. China, with its one child/one family programme, is the only major strong government trying to face up to the overpopulation problem. Mr. Wise challenges the rest of us to acknowledge the appalling reality that exists and then to start making some hard choices...namely to discourage reproduction and encourage natural demise. A few of his proposals include: * Sterilization for all convicted felons and persons found to be insane and feebleminded. * Foreign aid to Third World countries only consisting of contraceptive substances and devices. * The discontinuance of programmes promoting parenthood, such as child care and parental leave. * Government funded abortions for every woman who requests it, without requiring paternal or marital partner permission. Mr. Wise's remedies may seem drastic and provoke anguished protest but the ideas presented in this book cry out for open and honest public discussion.
