He finished his doctoral degree in 2003 with a thesis on the history of gas discharge research in the 19th century. From 2004 to 2010, he served as Assistant Professor in the History of Science Group at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main. From 2010 to 2013, he was Research Director at the Humanities Research Center at Goethe University. Afterwards he was head of the research group ""Knowledge in Interstices"" at the Collaborative Research Center ""Discourses of Weakness and Resource Regimes"" funded by the German Research Foundation. Currently, he is teaching history of science at Goethe University and is responsible for the division of research promotion at Evangelisches Studienwerk, Villigst.
