OverviewResistant arterial hypertension is considered a chronic non-communicable disease and has been described over the years as an important risk factor for the development of Chronic Kidney Disease, which in turn is considered a primary cause of cardiovascular disease; Currently, resistant arterial hypertension is defined as the presence of blood pressure in ranges greater than or equal to 140/90mm Hg, uncontrolled despite the use of three pharmacological groups of antihypertensive drugs at maximum doses.
