Beyond Belief: The Science-Backed Way to Stop Limiting Yourself and Achieve Breakthrough Results

Overview

An Instant New York Times Bestseller What if the real obstacle isn't your effort, your discipline, or your circumstances, but what you believe is possible? Behind every endeavor are beliefs that shape outcomes. Most people never question those beliefs, even when they hold them back. Beyond Belief by bestselling author Nir Eyal (Indistractable, Hooked) reveals one counterintuitive truth: these beliefs aren't facts. They're tools. Understand how they work, and you can set them aside when they are unhelpful and replace them with better ones to change what's possible for you. Backed by the latest neuroscience and psychology research, Eyal shows you how your hidden assumptions filter what you see, what you attempt, and what you achieve, and gives you a clear, practical method to change them. Learn how to: See what others miss – Beliefs filter your perception. Shift them, and options that were invisible come into view. Stay grounded under pressure – Change how you respond to uncertainty so steadiness becomes your default, not something you force. Break costly patterns – Improve your health, relationships, and career by removing interference – not adding more effort. Expand what you think you're capable of – Your limits aren't fixed. They're learned. And what's learned can be relearned. Once you understand how belief really works, you can stop fighting yourself — and start building change that lasts.

Reviews

“Nir Eyal masterfully reveals how our beliefs shape everything - from our health to our success. A brilliant, science-backed guide that will change how you see yourself and what's possible. I wish I read this book 10 years ago.” — Steven Bartlett, host and creator of the Diary of a CEO podcast ""Beyond Belief reveals the unconscious process that changes guides behavior. Nir Eyal shows how mastering belief, our most overlooked form of leverage, transforms how we see, feel, and act. This is clear thinking for the inner world, a mental model for upgrading the software of the mind.” — Shane Parrish, author of Clear Thinking “In Beyond Belief, Nir Eyal reveals how our deeply held assumptions shape every choice we make—and how to change them. Drawing from personal struggle, surprising science, and compelling stories, Eyal shows how beliefs act as mental tools, and how learning to choose the right ones can unlock lasting motivation, resilience, and progress.” — Charles Duhigg, bestselling author of The Power of Habit and Supercommunicators “Beyond Belief is a remarkable guide to the invisible forces that shape who we are and how we live. It helps us see the quiet scripts that keep us stuck and offers a compassionate way to rewrite them with clarity and courage. An empowering book that feels both deeply human and refreshingly practical.” — Lori Gottlieb, New York Times bestselling author of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone “Beyond Belief is a rare book—deeply researched, genuinely useful, and surprisingly moving. Grounded in science and rich with insight, Beyond Belief reveals how our beliefs shape what we experience. Nir Eyal’s bold idea that ""beliefs are tools, not truths"" offers a transformative framework for improving relationships, enhancing health and resilience, and unlocking our potential to thrive in every area of life.” — Gretchen Rubin, New York Times bestselling author of The Four Tendencies and Better Than Before “A fascinating exploration of the role of beliefs in creating the world we experience, and of our power to influence them. I found it inspiring precisely because it rejects the syrupy promises of ‘positive thinking’ in favor of a rigorous, action-oriented approach to shaping our beliefs and thereby our lives” — Oliver Burkeman, New York Times bestselling author of Four Thousand Weeks and Meditations for Mortals “Beyond Belief is the book I needed somebody to write, and I’m so glad that Nir Eyal wrote it. So often, the difference between success and failure isn't just our goals, or our habits, but rather our beliefs. The stories we tell ourselves about the world shape our careers, our relationships, and our happiness. In uncertain times, Eyal shows how conviction, grounded in evidence, can turn fear into focus and doubt into momentum. I absolutely devoured this book.” — Derek Thompson, New York Times bestselling author of Hit Makers and Abundance ""If you want to think clearer, feel better, and do your best work, read Beyond Belief. Nir Eyal explains how belief shapes every outcome in life and how to reprogram it for success. This book gives you the tools to achieve more with less effort.” — Ali Abdaal, bestselling author of Feel-Good Productivity and creator of the Ali Abdaal YouTube channel ""Nir Eyal has written the guide for anyone ready to step into their higher potential.
