Reviews

This book is an intimate account of a personal and professional journey that explores spiritual care as an act of healing and social justice. Tim weaves the shadow side of religious upbringing and training together with the courage to embrace deep learning and spiritual change. Contemporary life is calling for new pathways to spiritual awakening, and this book is a wonderful guide. --Ruth A. Mickelsen, Center for Bioethics, University of Minnesota Based on a lifelong career as a spiritual-care provider and educator, Tim Thorstenson takes readers beyond the confines of traditional orthodoxy toward an 'evolutionary spirituality' where all are welcome and all can grow, from the novice in spiritual reflection to the most learned scholar. Be prepared as you read--prepared to hear a prophetic voice invite you to a new place beyond belief. --Howard D. Stendahl, 17th Chief of Chaplains, United States Air Force, retired This book is written by a master in the field of spiritual care and education. Steeped in deep knowledge, insights, and wisdom, it will be a valuable resource and inspiration for anyone who wants to be on the leading edge of professional chaplaincy and for anyone who wants to grow and develop as human beings. --Tor Magne Handeland, Chaplain, The Norwegian Mindfulness Association
