With John Thompson and Ryan Perry he is the author of Making Histories: the Middle English Prose Brut and the Bibliographical Imagination, the first book-length study of the most copied secular English text of the Middle Ages (Brepols, 2007). He has co-edited, with John Thompson, Imagining the Book (Brepols 2005) and has published essays on cultural theory and cultural translation. He is currently working on a book on the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben.David Johnston is a multi-award winning translator whose performed work includes plays by Lope de Vega and Calderón for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Lorca and Valle-Inclán for the BBC, Juan Mayorga's Way to Heaven at the Royal Court, and a number of original plays for stage and radio.
