OverviewThis report presents the findings of a study commissioned by the Department of Health and Scottish Executive. This involved a follow-up of the 2,406 people who had been interviewed in the 2000 Psychiatric Morbidity Survey in Great Britain. This report considers the extent of onset and recovery from common mental disorders, including substance use, and suicidal thoughts over the 18 month period and factors associated with these changes. It also considers treatment and services received for mental health problems and a range of measures of quality of life.
