The pitfalls have been many and the heartbreak considerable, but with each step in defiance I took, there was progress as a result. Although progress was made, and this can only create changes, these changes are so badly needed within the Mental Health System. I dedicate this book to all the mentally ill and their carers, and hope beyond hope that life will become less hostile, and that the ignorance of others will eventually die, and the birth of 'compassion and understanding' will at long last prevail.
