OverviewBest Friends and Bullies is a fictitious story that is based, in part, on my personal struggles. I was born with a disorder known as Neurofibromatosis (NF) 1. As an infant, I had a malformed hip socket, which required the wearing of a brace and corrective shoes. The telltale signs of the bumps, known as neurofibromas, began to manifest themselves early on as did the café-au-lait spots. I also experienced problems with my back, which was eventually determined to be a curve in several places, which caused mobility problems. Additionally, I had to deal with the problem of being teased (bullied) by children in my school. Even though this teasing hurt me, my parents had taught me a lesson that has followed me my entire life. God doesn't make mistakes. The NF journey is different for each person who is placed on the NF Road. My NF journey is my own, and so are those journeys of fellow travelers. I hope to be an encouragement to parents and to children who, by no choice of their own, have undertaken that same journey. By the grace of God, I desire to share my journey with you and to be an encouragement through the written word. But I personally think anyone of any age will enjoy reading it. There is a message in it that anyone can relate to. It tells about the struggles a person with disabilities must endure. The story is about a girl named Corrie who experiences a lot of hurt due to kids making fun of her because of her clumsiness. They don't understand because she has a disability called NF. The book takes Corrie through a journey finding a best friend and getting a chance to write a report for a science project where she is able to share with her classmates about NF. It is a story of sharing, caring, and finding peace with the life that God has given her. Nancy James Author InformationTab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
