Table of ContentsReviewsI think you have done something wonderfully erudite and thoroughly original, and I absolutely love the fact that it is unabashedly intellectual and culturally rich and generous and deep, while being fantastically Australian and arch and funny I actually see a really important book about Australian intellectual culture. (Kirsty Machon, writer and critic) Michael Hurley has been living through history - delightfully. With teacups, Marlene, varieties of micro-power, Reconciliation, fashion, punk and more to keep him company. BESIDE MY SELF is your chance to join him on this journey - which is both his, and ours. (Graham Willett, historian) Author InformationMichael Hurley was an Australia Council Writer in the Community at the AIDS Council of NSW in 1995 and Researcher in Residence at the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations, 1999-2000. From 1985-1998 he taught textual and cultural studies at the University of Technology, Sydney and was an HIV social researcher at The Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University 2001-2010.
