Overview

When her son began experiencing the challenges of addiction and mental ill-health, Elizabeth Rose learnt just how much hope and hurt a heart can hold. This book, much of which they wrote together, is an insight into what it was like for them to maintain the loving bond they both deserved, despite the many obstacles that tried to destroy it.  The hope is that the book will help those who are supporting people with addiction and mental health issues to gain a clearer sense of their clients’ or loved ones’ experiences, and how much their challenges can affect them, their families and their friends.  Bent Spoons and Broken Hearts describes the emotions that Elizabeth and her son faced on their journey, written in the hope that it helps others realise they are not alone.

Author Information

Elizabeth Rose is a retired Primary School teacher, who later became a Curriculum Support Officer specialising in Early Education. In her retirement, she also worked as part of a team delivering staff development across Scotland promoting creative approaches to teaching and learning.
