At fourteen years old, Karen Oliver's son Ben was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia, a rare genetic disorder affecting coordination and mobility and causes the development of cardiomyopathy and associated arrythmias. She was told he would be wheelchair bound by seventeen and live no longer than thirty-four. But Ben was not going to let that stop him. About the Author Karen A. Oliver is a registered nurse with a background in long-term care and rehab, working with the elderly and disabled.
