Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts to Josiah Franklin and Abiah Folger Franklin. Franklin was predominantly self-taught, although he did receive some formal education. Franklin passed away in 1790 at the age of 84. He lived a colorful life and left a legacy filled with many political and scientific achievements. He is said to be one of the most influential Americans to live and is still acclaimed for his accomplishments.
