Overview

Benito Pé rez Galdó s was a novelist, journalist and politician of Canarian origin. He is considered one of the best representatives, worldwide, of the realist novel of the 19th century. A fundamental narrator of Spanish-language literature, he is possibly the greatest Spanish novelist after the universally recognized inventor of the genre: Miguel de Cervantes. Pé rez Galdó s was a true humanist and his life was dedicated almost entirely to his great passion, literature, with which he tried to address the problems of people of all social backgrounds. His compassionate and progressive attitude undoubtedly contributed to establish his position as one of the most respected and beloved figures in the Spanish society of his time.

Author Information

Tyto Alba (Badalona, 1975) takes his first professional steps as a painter, exhibiting in several galleries in Barcelona. During a stay in Mexico City, he began his career as a cartoonist, where he created his comic Black River Together and several short comics for different publications. Fernando Delgado is a graduate in Information Sciences and a journalist in press, radio and television, he has collaborated in the newspapers El Día, Pueblo, Informaciones and El País, specializing in literary criticism and culture. In 1976 he published his first novel: Tachero. In 1994 he published what the author considers his most personal work, Háblame de ti, and a year later he won the Planeta Prize with La Mirada del otro, made into a film by Vicente Aranda. He has also written poetry and essays.
