Overview

Romance and suspense combine in this novel set on the west side of Puget Sound in the Shadow of the Olympic Mountains. Evergreen scented air lifts Carla Summers' spirits as she ride her horse through Northwest Tree Farm land near her small ranch. She encounters the grizzly-bearded tree patrolman, Jason Gerard, who demands to see her permit to ride on the private land. He continues his patrol, his thoughts on Carla, and discovers a car beneath the surface of a nearby pond. In the aftermath of a crime that involves a double homicide, Jason and Carla meet again, and grow close for a time, Until she ignores his calls. She avoids him until a natural disaster leaves him fighting for his life.
