Judge J. Robert Stump (retired) is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Richmond Law School; a law clerk for the late A. C. Buchanan of the Virginia Supreme Court; a practicing attorney and substitute judge of the Virginia General District and Juvenile Courts; a trial and chief Circuit Court Judge in Virginia; and a dispute resolution mediator. He lives in Norton, Virginia, with his wife, Alice ""Poofie""Stump. Together, they have two daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
