Overview

The encounters between Christians and Muslims lead to diverse challenges. These might be theological, historical and political in nature. It is debated, how God presents himself and how he is represented. It is up for review, how Christian witness towards Muslims has historically unfolded, in serving the needy and by invitation to faith. It becomes a challenge, when freedom is understood differently, particularly in encountering people who have changed their faith allegiance. The contributions to this compendium emerge from a symposium on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Rev. Eberhard Troeger. For decades he has left significant mark in the Christian encounter with Muslims, particularly in Egypt and Germany.
