Mikhail Tumanishvili (1921 - 1996) was famous Georgian theatre director within a unique place in Russian theatre history. He was Artistic Director at the Rustaveli Theatre from 1968 and for many years he was the Head of the Faculty of Directing at the Georgian Theatre Institute. In 1978 he became Artistic Director of the Tbilisi Film Actors Theatre. Irina Brown, the translator is a Russian born theatre director in the UK and offer short courses for emerging directors at the Young Vic theatre. She was the Artistic Director of the Tron Theatre Glasgow, and is Granada Artist-in-Residence at the University of California Davis.
