Author Information

Gervase George (Dreaming Squirrel) was born in London in 1980. He studied performing arts at university and gained a 2nd honours. He lives in Winchester, where for some years he has been on the open mic, music jam and poetry scenes. He has had great occasions of connecting to the ether and this way verse, music, and poetry flow through him. At open mic nights he has been known to inspire people to laugh aloud in what has been a gift at improvising and devising. More recently Gervase has composed a first draft for the story and characters of a trilogy of films: Table 42, Love and Land Rovers and Tales from The Sails, which feature music from the collection of his singer-songwriter songs, which he hopes might one day be produced. His music stage name is 7Dances. He has written songs and soundtracks in about 7 different genres. Gervase plays piano, synths, harmonica, djembe, and a little flute and guitar. His poetry pen name is Dreaming Squirrel. Gervase has ancestry in the theatre by way of being a great-grandson of George Grossmith. George Gossmith was an English comedian, writer, composer, actor and singer who co-wrote, acted and sang alongside Guilbert & Sullivan with the D'Oyley Carte Opera Theatre Company. Together they produced H.M.S. Pinafore, Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado. Grossmith also wrote the comic novel The Diary of a Nobody. George Grossmith Jr. also worked and created in theatre as an actor, playwright and producer of Edwardian musical comedies. Legend has it that these people were at The Savoy Theatre, London, when the first lighting was invented and used to help people see at night. Which began the phasing out of candles as a main source of indoor lighting. Gervase is also a keen photographer, as was George Grossmith. His dad was a family solicitor, and his mum was a secretary at the same firm, which is how they met and became lifelong friends. His mum's dad was a royal marine and his dad's dad was a colonel in the army.
