Brown is a professor and eminent scholar of counseling at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She is the author of sixteen published books, five of which focus on the subject of groups: Teaching Group Dynamics (Praeger, 1992), Group Counseling for Elementary and Middle School Children (Praeger, 1994) Expressive Processes in Group Counseling (Praeger, 1996), Psychoeducational Groups (Routledge, 2003)), and Creating High Performance Classroom Groups (Routledge, 2000). She received her doctorate form The College of William and Mary, and is currently a board member and Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, a Member of the Association For Specialists in Group Work, and a member of the American Psychological Association.
