Overview

As we go through life, we have to interact with others. The challenge for many of us is that we don't know or apply the appropriate behaviour demanded by different situations, and we end up (unknowingly, more often than not) having a negative impact on the lives and experiences of others around us. This is where these simple but practical truths come in. 'Because Manners Matter' is a book designed to help better understand the sometimes unspoken rules of social interaction on the journey to becoming a better and more pleasant 'you', particularly as it relates to interacting with other people. The application of etiquette and social graces is about positively impacting the lives of others, and helping make them feel good about themselves, for the world would be a better place if we all practiced 'respect' and 'consideration' for others - two themes which are constant throughout the book. Filled with pragmatic tips - combined with witty and profound quotes underpinning each topic - it is short, concise and straight to the point. While not exhaustive about all of life's interactions, the simple outline of this book, in an A-Z compilation, allows you to easily identify different areas that you might wish to brush up on and put into practice. If you're ready to see what your life could be as a more self-aware and 'socially graceful person', or if you desire to refresh skills which are already a part of your makeup, pick up a pen and a notepad and get on with discovering why manners really matter. You'll be glad you did!

Reviews

""We were created by God to be social beings, and we thrive when our various relationships are rich and fulfilling. If you are someone who wants to behave properly in your interactions with others you come across on a day to day basis, this book is for you. It is a wonderful tool to help us relate with each other in away that allows us to glorify God as we respect each other. The style is simple, with interesting stories and information which commends it to the reader. A great resource to have in your collection. A must-read."" - Agu Irukwu, Senior Pastor, Jesus House for all nations and President (Pentecostal) of Churches Together in England ""Etiquette, or the cultural expectations around the way we behave around others, is essential to building human relationships. Those human relationships - our Relationology - have a bigger effect on our life happiness and business performance than any other factor, so they are worth investing in. If you feel your etiquette needs a polish then read this book."" - Matt Bird, CEO of Relationology International ""In my capacity as a prophet, I have had the privilege of interacting with people in different nations, and I have observed an obvious lack of knowledge of the proper dining etiquette among elite and non-elite alike. But, how do we know the proper way of doing things if we have never been taught? Esther would not have been chosen as queen in the scriptures if she wasn't taught the proper etiquette before she met the king. In this book, Olu Adeaga - 'Princess' - will take you through the protocols, for while we are told that ""your gift will make room for you"", proper etiquette can justify your presence at the table of opportunity."" - Prophetess Francina Norman ""In a world where manners are a lost art and offense runs rampant because many fail to adhere to the protocols of consideration, this is a timely offering. A fun and easy read, short, sweet and to the point, Olu Adeaga has given the clear cut rules of engagement for every type of situation, from airplane flights to dining, bereavement and everyday lifestyle decisions, in good taste and finesse. So needed, so on point! A must-read for anyone who wants to leave a great and lasting first impression. The perfect gift book and conversation piece to share with others!"" - Michelle McKinney Hammond, author of 'The Diva Principle' ""Etiquette has become an old-fashioned word in these times. It's a word closely associated with rules, and there's nothing my millennial generation hate more than rules. But what Olu Adeaga shows in this concise and profound book is that etiquette is less about rules and more about respect and consideration for others. My favourite entries were G for gratitude, J for jokes and K for kindness."" - Chibundu Onuzo, author of 'The Spider King's Daughter' and 'Welcome to Lagos'
