OverviewThis book presents concrete, practice-oriented approaches to art education projects as an integral part of the all-day care provided for children and young people living in a women's shelter. It outlines a framework for art therapy work with children that is specifically tailored to the structures, objectives and conditions of childcare within a women's shelter. Following this concept, through the joint efforts of the course leader and the project group within the framework of a regular session and within the women's shelter premises, a large-scale interactive project can take shape and continue to grow. Step by step, an accessible installation takes shape: the 'Children's House' within the women's shelter - a house within a house, so to speak, which can serve as a place of refuge, a space for creativity and social interaction for the children, but also as a repository for their thoughts and wishes. The artistic interaction during the course is intended to help usher in a more hopeful outlook on life, to cope better with the experiences of violence they have endured, and to process these individually through creative engagement with one another.
