Beauty Betrayal: how she survived it and flourished

Overview

Casey Fenton's life was practically perfect. At just forty-five years old, she had already taken a single aesthetics salon and built it up into Makeup Centres International (MCI), a publicly traded, multimillion-dollar enterprise, of which she was now CEO, president, and majority shareholder. Having managed to do all of this as a single mom, she was rightfully proud of her accomplishments. She only wished it hadn't come at the expense of her relationship with her son, who had long resented playing second fiddle to her professional ambitions. Unfortunately, that resentment would soon come to a head in dramatic fashion, blowing her beautiful life apart in the process. Casey's about to face a gruesome murder, the exposure of long-held secrets, romantic obsessions, as well as several haunting realizations from which Casey might never recover. This is Beauty Betrayal.

Author Information

Author Gail Laws drew a great deal of inspiration for this book (and its main protagonist) from her own life experiences. Being a makeup artist herself, and having once owned and operated a single salon, she is fully aware of the many perks and pitfalls that go hand-in-hand with such an enterprise. It served as a fascinating backdrop for her debut novel. Gail is retired now, but she still pursues all sorts of artistic endeavours (as well as word puzzles), creating oil paintings on commission, as well as designing and created ""genuine"" ostrich and emu eggs, some of which have won awards within the Eggers community. Unwilling to face outliving any more pets, she currently lives by herself in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She has one son and three granddaughters, one of whom currently makes her living as an international fashion model.
