Beastly Chains is a dark fantasy fairy-tale retelling of Beauty and the Beast, where a sacred texts translator is dragged from her life of quiet purpose by a shapeshifter - sometimes man, always beast - and forced to choose between unlocking his freedom and surrendering her own. For generations, the native Virellians and the remnant of the Cindara people have lived under the heavy yoke of the Lysarrians oppressors, the great enemies of the Everlight. But Sira Eleanor, servant of the Eternal Everlight, knows very little of that oppression, living a peaceful existence, with only one task: to not let the suffering of her people, the Cindara, be in vain, to preserve the ancient sacred texts of the Embercant as chief translator of the Everhall of Aurvale. In just one night, everything changes when darkness falls upon her home in the form of a great malevolent and foul beast. It lays waste to the once great Everhall, killing anyone who stood in the way of his target: Eleanor. Eleanor, no longer a Sira, is dragged to the beast's lair-Ashenwick Castle-only to discover her captor transformed into a striking, if insolent, lord: Gabriel Durnham, Lord of Nytheria, the last of a pure line of kings. She soon learns the terrifying truth: man and beast are one, bound by a family curse that will condemn him to wander the earth as a monstrous vagabond unless the curse is broken-or someone else breaks it for him. Eleanor faces a cruel choice: translate the lost work that holds the secret of Gabriel's curse-and earn her freedom-or refuse, and remain forever within the shadowed halls of Ashenwick, a prisoner to its cursed master.
