Be Creative and Live Forever

Overview

In the sacred hours of dawn and dusk, when light and darkness embrace in their fleeting dance, an octogenarian poet invites fellow spirit-journeyers into the intimate realm of twilight contemplation. Be Creative and Live Forever marks the fourth volume in a remarkable series of ruminations. From his morning vigil by the woodstove or stone circle in the woods, this privileged ponderer with pad and pen captures the thoughts that emerge unbidden from memory and imagination. Each poem stands as a vertical invitation to slow down and dive deep, contrasting with the horizontal sprawl of novels that unfold over time. These are moments crystallized, experiences distilled into their essential fire.

Reviews

Charles Finn's fourth book of poetic ""ruminations"" since the beginning of the pandemic is a book of revelations. Each succinct offering introduces us to a poet whose frank reflections on his own life experiences and on the thoughts of other learned writers and poets is uniquely satisfying. As I read each item I found myself being increasingly awakened to the author's own goodness and his impressive talent for revealing the mystery hidden beneath, beyond and within both the mundane and the unusual. Each poem-for-a-day is a satisfying treat, and each also leaves one with a longing to explore what is revealed but remains unsaid. - Theologian John Haught of Georgetown University, author of multiple books attempting to bring cosmology and theology into accord. He is currently working on an extended dialogue between Einstein and Teilhard. Come close listen and take a deep dive into the meaning of the universe with Be Creative and Live Forever. Poet Charles Finn invites you to journey into the wonders of our human experiences. Written at twilight these poems, including the haiku, are infused with intelligent insights through keen observation and significant human bonds garnered by a life lived with kindness, empathy, courage and truth. Whatever your loves, your personal successes and your traumas in life, immerse yourself in this volume of poems and find heartfelt emotional calm and enlightenment. Open your heart, listen with your mind, read this book and be creative! - Barbara Conklin, a reader. Charlie Finn explores many topics in his poetry, among them religion, ecology, war, politics and health. He looks at them from a deep mysticism and an intense compassion. And he shares his ""ruminations"" with a generosity of spirit. - Gary Sandman, artist, Director of the Plowshare Peace Center in Roanoke.
