This book provides the reader with first-hand knowledge of BDSM, accompanied by tens of powerful black and white illustrations. 31 real narrations of BDSM practitioners are provided, so we get to know their desires, experiences, and challenges. The book also reviews the current state of scientific knowledge available on sexual sadomasochism to understand the psychological basis of BDSM. Some people gain sexual pleasure by getting spanked, whipped, tied upon and by dripping hot candlewax on their skin. Some enjoy losing control and shifting the power to their dominant partner, to obey orders and maybe get punished for their misdeeds - and sometimes for no apparent reason. Some are aroused by being verbally or physically humiliated during sex, and others enjoy playing the role of a pet, a fictional character, or a slave. All of these BDSM desires and the psychological basis behind them are explored throughout this book. This book consists of two parts: The first contains personal narratives from self-identified BDSM practitioners, based on interviews the author have conducted with these individuals.
