Battle between Cu Chulainn & Ferdiad

Overview

A free interpretation of a well-known Irish legend. The setting is shifted to the XVIII century, to the southern territories of the nascent United States. The novella tells the story of the meeting and battle between two great heroes: Cú Chulainn the ""Grey-Eyed"" - a Cherokee warrior, and John Ferdiad - a captain of a grenadier unit in the British Army. Ferdiad arrives with his detachment on American soil under the personal orders of His Majesty. The grenadiers' mission is to find and arrest several rebels against the Crown who have taken a valuable object belonging to the king. But when British forces come into conflict with the native tribes, the protection of the newly arrived colonists becomes the highest priority. In the heat of battle, it is difficult to remain true to oneself and stay an honest man. Yet, exhausted by bloodshed and death, both Cú Chulainn and Ferdiad do everything in their power to prevent a massacre on the banks of the Mississippi. They face hostility from both sides. Who will emerge victorious from this clash - and who will survive?
