Reviews

Lovely book, great for beginners with some nice projects. All the projects have step-by-step instructions and photos so it is easy to follow. The beginning of the book goes through the different techniques you will use for the projects. There are 20 projects to choose from, most are useful objects that you can use around the home. I particularly like the basket with handles.  -- Sally Mitton * Customer review * Wow, what an amazing book. Something I've always wanted to do, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in basketweaving. -- Jean Lunn * Customer review * Nice book that has a variety of projects suitable for teens to the elderly. Teaches the basic shapes and offers a variety of projects to try. Need to research where to get the weaving sticks etc. though as it’s not overly explained but didn’t expect it to. If you want to have fun making various storage items this is the book for you! (I can’t decide which to try first!) Also with the techniques offered it could be used to weave other things and adapt the offered projects to make while new ones - ie bird feeder - fairy house - bag into cat basket, etc.  -- Laura Murphy * Customer review * Teach yourself a new technique with Sylvie Begot's book featuring 20 easy projects to make at home. This age-old skill uses cane to crate baskets of different shapes and sizes , with step-buy-step breakdowns to guide you through the process. * Crafts Beautiful *

Author Information

Sylvie Bégot has been creative from a young age. She put her interest in crafts on hold to train as a paramedic, and returned to her interest in basketry during maternity leave for her third child. She then began to share her passion for basketweaving through workshops. Sylvie’s need to source and create specific teaching materials led her to publish her first book on cane basketry in France in 2007. Prior to the publication of Basketweaving for Beginners, Sylvie published another four books on basketry in her native France. She now runs basketry workshops for schoolchildren as well as for trainee occupational therapists, in Lyon, France. She has a particular interest in basketry using natural products such as cane, willow and rattan as well as upcycled materials.
