Die Faser besitzt eine gr nlich-braune F rbung. Die Zusammensetzung der Schmelze beeinflusst die physikalischen Eigenschaften der Basaltfaser. Im Gegensatz zur Kohlenstofffaser oder Aramidfaser ist die Basaltfaser nicht verstreckt sondern, wie die Glasfaser, amorph. Die hohe Festigkeit der Basaltfaser, im Vergleich zum kompakten Basalt, beruht daher nur auf dem Gr eneffekt.
