OverviewA new savior emerges from a drugged-out dystopia in ""the most ambitious psychedelic sci-fi novel of the era"" from the Science Fiction Grand Master (Conceptual Fiction). The earth is recovering from the Acid Head War, in which hallucinogenic chemicals were the primary weapon. Many humans are now suffering from delusions and are unable to tell the real from the imaginary. When a man named Colin Charteris tries to make sense of the drugged-out world, he is taken as the new messiah. As he descends into paranoid visions, he begins to believe this himself. Over a long and distinguished writing career, he published award-winning science fiction (two Hugo Awards, a Nebula Award, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award); bestselling popular fiction, including the three-volume Horatio Stubbs saga and the four-volume the Squire Quartet; experimental fiction such as Report on Probability A and Barefoot in the Head; and many other iconic and pioneering works, including the Helliconia Trilogy. He edited many successful anthologies and published groundbreaking nonfiction, including a magisterial history of science fiction (Billion Year Spree, later revised and expanded as Trillion Year Spree). Among his many short stories, perhaps the most famous was ""Super-Toys Last All Summer Long,"" which was adapted for film by Stanley Kubrick and produced and directed after Kubrick's death by Steven Spielberg as A. I. Artificial Intelligence. Brian W. Aldiss passed away in 2017 at the age of 92. Hannibal Hills has been a ""performer"" from the beginning. At school, he trained in acting and theater arts at Southampton College, and also received a diploma in television. Although he performed in many stage plays (by Lorca, Brecht, Stoppard, Pinter, and, of course, Shakespeare), he also helped produce original works, and soon found himself mostly in the directing role. More recently, in March of 2020, he won the ""Best Newcomer"" award (no small feat for this middle-aged guy!) as part of his regional media's annual theater awards. In March of 2021, he was thrilled to receive three Independent Audiobook Award nominations. Hannibal was also a top wedding and memorial celebrant, before he could no longer fight the urge to leap into audiobook performance. It's a supreme pleasure for Hannibal to bring good writing off the page and into the minds and hearts of listeners. As a professional narrator, he devotes himself to understanding a text, and giving a book life with his voice-in a way that creates true entertainment, enlightenment, or merely an escape. Hannibal's vocal style is warm, clear, and sophisticated, with a depth of emotion from connecting with each project he takes on. Although he specializes in dramatic fiction, especially involving complex plots and highly charged emotion, his nonfiction is performed in a way that brings the truth of the text to both the heart and mind of the reader.
