The Barbu de Watermael, or Barbu de Watermaal, is a breed of bantam chicken originating in the Belgian town of Watermael-Boitsfort. Translated from the French, its name means bearded from Watermael . It is very closely related to the several other Belgian true bantams, and resembles a Bearded d'Anvers with a crest of feathers. Males weigh around 22 ounces (624 grams) and hens weigh 18 ounces (510 grams). It is almost exclusively an ornamental fowl, and appears in more than 30 color variations, including Mille Fleur, Quail, White, Blue and Cuckoo.
