Overview"This work contains texts by Veit Gorner, Hilke Wagner, and Frank-Thorsten Moll. Barbara Kruger was initially known for her appropriation of the imagery and slogans of advertising to create subversive artworks. More recently, the artist has abstained from these familiar collages of text and image, instead arranging her statements in typographical blocks extended across walls, ceilings and floors. In the video installation ""Twelve"", a succession of individual persons are projected in half-length portraits onto giant screens. A total of twelve scenes of men and women discourse with one another, as a line of text runs underneath, making the subtext legible and revealing the inner thoughts of the person depicted. This publication accompanies the exhibition Desire Exists Where Pleasure is Absent at kestnergesellschaft, Hanover."
