Banking The Fire

Overview

Four seasoned campers annually escape their good jobs and alternative lifestyles for a trip they all look forward to - their beloved back-country camping excursion. But this time, they find their lives capsized like an overturned canoe when one friend invites a co-worker along - a younger, affluent guy who loves K-Pop, online shopping, and life's creature comforts - and who's never been camping before. While the trip starts off hesitant and somewhat rocky, the new friend slowly endears himself to at least some of the group, which causes them all to re-evaluate their friendships and allegiances.

Author Information

Ginny Fanthome writes by day to feed herself, and enjoys writing so much that she pens novels and plays in her spare time. Her first self-published novel, Loose Gravel, was released in the middle of a pandemic and was fully embraced by readers. She's returned with another fast-paced, funny, and bittersweet story about the joy of back-country camping that delves into the complexity of relationships. Although knee injuries now prevent her from portaging and roughing it in the bush, Fanthome has never embraced the idea of living a quiet life: she's been a drummer for decades and now wants to play trumpet, she's an artist, she has two other novels and a play waiting in the wings to publish, and she's studying to become a blacksmith.
