Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) is the 30th public university of Bangladesh established in Mirpur, Dhaka in 2008, to run all educational institutions of the army, navy and air force and facilitate professional degrees for armed forces personnel and civilians through its affiliated institutions.There are nine institutions (formerly run by the Bangladesh Military) that are affiliated with BUP. These institutions include National Defence College, Defence Services Command and Staff College, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI), Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA), Bangladesh Naval Academy (BNA) and Bangladesh Air Force Academy (BAFA).
