Overview

Bali, already well known as a major player in the tropical architecture and interior design world, is changing face again as new buildings grace the island. In this book the author-architect Gianni Francione continues a journey which began with the books Bali Modern and Bali Houses. Showcasing a fascinating selection of post-millennium contemporary tropical residences and structures, they all represent to some degree Bali's continuing ""new tropical international"" trend that has become a benchmark for tropical living. Most are private residences, but there are also a few public places including a wedding chapel, a sports club and a restaurant. Each property has been selected because of its architectural creativity, innovative interior design scheme and imaginative approach, and all are different in style. Nonetheless, they are excellent examples of what may be called the true essence of tropical living.

Author Information

Gianni Francione is an architect from Turin, North Italy, who has been based in Southeast Asia-mainly in Bali-for over 20 years. His recent books include Tropical Asian Style, Bali Houses and Bali Modern. Masano Kawana is a renowned interiors, food and lifestyle photographer with a distinctly modernist touch. Previous publications include Asian Bar and Restaurant Design, Green Mangoes and Lemon Grass and Shunju.
