Overview

Bags of Showbiz for Cello is jam packed with great film, pop, TV and show tunes, from Harry Potter to High School Musical, Dr Who to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Each piece is complete in itself, so does not need an accompaniment, but for fun you could ask a friend to improvise a simple rhythm on drum or percussion to fit with your part. Written and arranged by the UK's leading string pedagogue Mary Cohen, and is suitable for students at grades 2-3.

Reviews

This collection of 24 of the best melodies from film and TV over the past 80 years has been thoughtfully and carefully arranged to utilize all the techniques that the cellist at this stage needs to develop. In this respect, many students will find them a refreshing break from exam pieces or even studies and yet they are still quite demanding. They are a great way to enjoy and appreciate some of the great melodies, many of which will be familiar, such as the theme from Dr Who and yet be challenged in terms of technique and musicianship. A worthwhile buy. Arco, European String Teachers Association, Summer 2010
